Principal Eric Holmes
Hello Centerville Elementary Families!
Hello! I am Eric Holmes -- new principal at Centerville Elementary. I am super excited to join the community of this great school and thank you so much for the warm welcome.
A little about me... I have 5 wonderful children who are each married, so I really have 10 fantastic kids and 7 incredible grandchildren. My wife, Heidi, is a teacher and our kids got sick of their parents talking about school all... day... long... But, hey, we love our jobs. This is my 34th year in education. I taught school for 12 years and have been a principal for 21 years.
I love ice cream, cheeseburgers, Spiderman, the mountains (really all outdoors), the Jazz, the Aggies (Utes, Cougs, and Wildcats are okay too), history, science, all animals (especially big dogs), and sitting by a campfire. I'm so old that when I was a kid there were only 3 TV channels and no microwaves. But! I can still dunk a basketball (on an 8-foot hoop) and when I wrestle with my grandkids, I usually win.
When I was a teacher, I had rabbits, mice, rats, fish, snakes, iguanas, chinchillas, hamsters, tarantulas, and lizards as class pets. They don't let teachers keep many pets anymore and it makes me sad. I used to have a pet snake that lived in my office, but he retired and now lives with my son and his wife. But I can still bring him to school. I think thunderstorms are cool and love how quiet it is when big snowflakes are falling.
Kids are my favorite people and bring out the "goofy" part of me. I love when kids learn, work hard, joke, laugh, and help each other out. I've hear that's how Centerville kids act and I can't wait to meet each of you!
